Outfit of the Day: Marvel Print Dress from Torrid

Our latest outfit of the day comes from Torrid.

It is a cute Marvel comic print dress in the 50’s shirt dress or house dress style.

It is a nice stetchy fabric and comes with a cute red belt. However, it was a little high-waisted on me, so I paired the dress with my own belt from Amazon so it would sit lower on my actual waist.

I love how you can pick any color accessories you want to style this dress. You can be inspired by your favorite character or whatever mood you are in that day.

I also love how it is easily a casual dress or a very dressy dress, depending on the accessories.

Outfit of the Day: WandaVision Bound

Our latest outfit of the day is inspired by “WandaVision”, which starts streaming tomorrow on Disney+. I cannot be more excited for this show! We’ve waited almost two years for new Marvel content, and the time has finally come.

I took my inspiration from Wanda’s uniform colors or red and black and gave them a 50’s bend with a “new look” silhouette.

Once I got the color story together with the look itself, I added brooches to accessorize.

But, not just any brooches, I added witch-themed brooches to tie the whole look together. I also threw in a couple of 50’s themed pins for fun.

The dress is from Amazon. The belt, petticoat and beret are also from Amazon. Pins are all from Wish. Purse is vintage.

Happy shopping and viewing!

New Dapper Bound: Captain America Stealth Dress

We got to go to our second Dapper Day at Disneyland recently.  We spent a day in the parks and a day at the Dapper Day Expo.  For our parks day, I wore my new Captain America Stealth dress to both parks.

Dress is from Grace Karin on AmazonBelt is from Amazon.  Foam shield from Disneyland park.  Shoes are my DIY saddle shoes, which you can get instructions to make your own here.  For DIY for the star and bars for the dress, click here.

Cap himself said that he had never worn that uniform so well, so he liked it!

Spidey also loved it, and asked if he could “borrow” my shield.

Captain Marvel also loved the look and really liked the idea of comfy saddle shoes!  I also crossed universes and went to Batuu!

Please enjoy the pics and send us pics from your Dapper Day.  We love to hear from you!

Until next time…

New Dapper Bound: Captain America Stealth Suit Dress- DIY Instructions

For my latest cosplay, I put together a look for Dapper Day of my favorite Captain America suit, the stealth suit.

The dress is pretty easy to put together.  I found some iron-on transfer paper at a craft store.  With that, a star-shaped cookie cutter and a straight edge, I was able to create the stealth dress.

When choosing your star, make sure you choose one that is good scale to your body.  Then you will need three stripes on each side, again, keep an eye on the scale.  The stripes end at the arms at a 90 degree angle, but are diagonally cut to fit close to the star.  The lengths also vary, with two shorter stripes on the top and bottom and the longest in the middle.

Here are some reference pictures for you:

Here is a shopping guide for the look:

InPlainSight.style’s First Couture Meet-Up

The kiddo and I recently hosted our very first (first of many, I hope) couture meet-up at The Federal in North Hollywood.

We had a great time!  I was recently inspired by the Lolita tea houses all over the world where Lolitas can meet up with each other in their favorite looks and hang out, inspire each other, take fun pictures, etc.

I wanted to widen the scope of the invite to include all kinds of geekery, so we put in the invite that there were no dress-code rules; wear whatever you want.  As you can see, we had some great looks sported by some awesome ladies:
