Introducing In Plain Sight Styling!

I’ve been out of commission for pretty much the entire month of November (the kid and I both got knocked down with a nasty flu), so I am launching this a little late, but better late than never!

Live in the shop now is my new styling service!

I’ve had a lot of requests for personal shopping/styling over the years, and I decided to pull the trigger on offering a completely online service. That way anyone can benefit from it, not just people here in LA.

First step will be to complete a small questionnaire like this:

This will be in Word format so you can complete and email to me. No need to print or scan anything.

Then I will create a head-to-toe look, including shoes, jewelry and accessories and send you a style sheet like this:

I will send it both as a jpg and pdf. The pdf will be fully clickable and shoppable. Each look is $25. I checked other services that are similar and they run between 50 and 100 a look, so I am offering a great discount on the work (I know, times are tough all over, believe me!)

I hope that this will help some of you dip a toe into exploring your style. I also hope that this can help get you Insta-ready for your next park visit (any park, not just Disney). Speaking of which, I will consult the particular park/event you are going to for any dress code rules and will follow them so you don’t need to worry about compliance on those.

A Trip to Knott’s Boysenberry Festival

With restrictions easing everywhere, most theme parks have started or in the case of Knott’s, restarted, their food festival programs. These “Taste of…” events are a lot of fun and a safe way to get out of the house for a bit.

Besides that, a chance to enjoy some great food!

I’ve never been to the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival before, but I can say that I will never miss one again. The food was amazing, honestly, beyond amazing. I’m no foodie, but I had such an amazing time!

Everything was outside and no rides operating, but the Ghost Town residents of Calico were socially distant and out and about to interact with the guests. There were also some Peanuts characters available for socially distant, but still great, photos.

There may be some tickets still available here. If you can go, I highly recommend it.

Now, for the wardrobe. I went with a nice springtime 50’s look from Rosegal. I added purple accessories, cause, boysenberries, from Amazon.

Click on these links to buy the dress, the beret, the belt and the petticoat. Pins are from Wish. I also have some great enamel pins available in the store. Just click here. Shoes are an old DIY on this blog. Click here to revisit.

Happy Shopping!

Wardrobe Solutions: Tube/Pencil Skirt

Our latest outfit of the day also features a great wardrobe solution- the tube or pencil skirt.

This skirt can be an excellent addition to your wardrobe as a staple. How to wear it?

Well, the new trend of cropped shirts is a great way to wear this skirt. As you can see from the pictures, I took an awesome graphic tee from Forever 21 Plus and paired it with a tube skirt, also from Forever 21 Plus.

I have a couple of tees that I purchased recently that are cropped. While I like the fit, I also don’t really like to bare my midriff. This skirt is super high-waisted, so that solves the problem nicely.

This skirt is a staple of both rockabilly looks as well as 80’s inspired looks.

Click on links above to shop this look.

The sunglasses are coming to the store this Thursday, the 25th! These shades are a great cat-eye shape with a matte finish and feature our ducky logo. I’ve been road-testing these for the past couple months and the logo has proven to be water/sweat proof, has not faded at all and has stayed put.

Get your own pair this Thursday for only $14.95! Just click on the shop link at the top of the page.

Happy Shopping!

Thrifting Trip and Outfit of the Day

For the kiddo’s (well, he’s 15, so not REALLY a kiddo), birthday, I took him on a thrifting trip to King Richard’s Antiques in Whittier, CA. Whittier is east of downtown LA.

King Richard’s is three floors of amazing finds, and we had an amazing time.

Benji got a new denim jacket and some other chotkes.

For our trip, my outfit of the day is from Hot Topic. I love this Tarot Card dress so much!

Like most Hot Topic pieces, it is size-inclusive and super comfy and a great print.

My belt is from Torrid. The boots are from Forever 21. Click on links to buy.

A Much-Needed Trip to Downtown Disney

With COVID cases finally declining, our Governor lifted stay-at-home orders and the ban on outside dining recently.

Boyfriend Bill and I took advantage of that and took a day off to go to Downtown Disney.

In addition, Disney has opened the main street and Hollywood section of Disney’s California Adventure for shopping.

I did make note of the fact that work has resumed on Avenger’s Campus, which makes me more happy than I could ever express. To celebrate that, I wore my Black Widow Disney Dress Shop dress by Her Universe.

I picked up one of the new Nuimos. Nuimos were a huge hit in Japan, and now they have made their way to the USA. They are fully posable with a variety of fashionable looks to choose from. I chose Daisy, cause, duck. I bought her a cute ensemble that makes her super stylish I think! Shop for Nuimos online here. It is also important to note that Her Universe will be designing everyday cosplay looks for Nuimos. So, your toys can bound too! Feel free to use a Team Build Checklist for them as well (wink)! Maybe I should make some tiny Team Build Checklists…

As always, the Disney Dress Shop dresses look amazing and are super comfortable. I love the design on this dress as well. And yes, there are pockets! Get your own dress here.

My beret is from Amazon. Pins are from Wish. Petticoat is also from Amazon. Chucks by Converse.

Happy Shopping and coming up, we are planning an adventure to Knott’s! Stay tuned…

Outfit of the Day: Emperor’s New Groove

Welcome to Kuzcotopia!

I’m so excited to share this new skirt from “The Emperor’s New Groove” by Her Universe for Hot Topic.

“The Emperor’s New Groove” has long been a favorite Disney movie of mine, and I am so glad to see that Hot Topic now has a whole line of clothing to celebrate it.

This skirt is size inclusive, up to a 5xl. It is available at both Her Universe and Hot Topic.

I love the vibrant color and the fabric is a super stretchy and comfy scuba, so it keeps its shape. I also love the length, which is just below the knee. You can turn it into a move vintage look by adding a petticoat.

My shirt is from Torrid. Click on links to buy.

It may not be complete with water slide, but darn it, it’s pretty awesome!

Outfit of the Day: Shakespeare T-shirt with 80’s Style Blazer

For our latest outfit of the day, I styled this new awesome t-shirt from Forever 21.

It’s not everyday that you find a t-shirt with Shakespeare on it.

The English nerd in me, snagged this immediately!

I styled it with an 80’s-inspired oversized blazer from Lane Bryant. I added pins to the lapel. Pins are my actual pins and buttons from the 80’s, with the exception of the ducky enamel pin, which is from our InPlainSight store. In addition, you can’t pose with a Shakespeare shirt and NOT have a skull on hand. Mine is from Michael’s. Click on links to buy.

Outfit of the Day: Leopard Tulle Skirt by Betsey Johnson for Torrid

Our next outfit of the day also comes from Torrid and their Betsey Johnson collection. In addition, it will make a great Valentine’s Day look.

I absolutely love this skirt! It is so comfortable and cute. I really love how it can be dressed up or down. So far, I’ve loved pairing it with t-shirts and moto jackets, but you can easily add a more formal blouse or sweater set for a more upscale look.

Get your own skirt from Torrid. My Avengers t-shirt is also from Torrid. The pink t-shirt is from Amazon. Pink moto jacket is from Eloquii. White sneakers from Fila. Leopard sneakers are from Converse. My new tricycle is from Ebay. Bowler hat is from Amazon. Click on all the links to buy.
