Our latest outfit of the day comes from Our Universe, the unisex branch of Her Universe.
They recently began producing pieces for their Harry Potter collection. They started with dress, then moved on to these great casual cosplay robes/hoodies.
The robes are available by clicking on this link. I linked the Harry Potter page so you can pick the Hogwarts house you want.
The hoodies are super comfy and soft. They are not heavy and cumbersome like the robes sold in the park, but they do include the crest for your house, the house colors and a pointy hood and most importantly, a wand pocket!
My boyfriend also got one and loves his, so they are great for guys as well.
I’m so glad that Her Universe keeps fulfilling the desires of geeks everywhere. I also applaud calling this line Our Universe rather than, His Universe. When the company was started, remember this was before women and girl geeks had any choices in geek wear, so for now the name “Her Universe” is very important. However, I believe that eventually the whole company will be called Our Universe and do away with traditional gendered labels.
Recently, we went to a couple of horror-themed shows and conventions in the LA area.
The first was Son of Monsterpalooza in Burbank. This was a first for both of us. The kiddo and I have never been to a horror-themed convention before. I enjoyed this show a lot. I was impressed with the celebrity meet and greets offered by the show. Furthermore, the celebrities are at their tables and you just walk up and chat, get autographs and photos. No lines, no lotteries, no fuss.
I made a couple of nice purchases on the floor. This purse from Rock Rebel and this cat dress by Kreepsville 666. Click on links to peruse their sites.
The second show was Spookshow at Halloween Club in Orange County. This show was an outside horror-themed flea market in their parking lot and the huge Halloween Store had almost everything marked down.
This show had free admission, which was nice, but there were far fewer vendors and the store was pretty junky and crowded.
Here are some photos from the show floor and the lot at Spookshow.
I did get these sunnies at the show, but the vendor doesn’t have a website for you to check out, unfortunately.
But, most importantly, me and the kiddo had a lovely day out, which is why we do what we do!
The google eye figures, cauldron and witch hat light are from Target. The glitter pumpkins and velvet pumpkin are both from Michael’s.
Not all items are available anymore, so our shopping links are to each store’s Halloween Store pages so you can go from there. If I find specific links, I will put them in the picture descriptions above for you.
Our latest outfit of the day is my new Creature From the Black Lagoon from Unique Vintage. There is also a men’s button-down shirt version, but unfortunately Benji’s is on backorder so we can’t show it to you in this post.
The dress and shirt are made from a super soft stretch taffeta. The print on the fabric is super bright and really beautiful.
Taffeta holds its shape really well, so I actually did not even wear a petticoat with the dress in these photos. I wore it to Son of Monsterpalooza in Burbank, and the day was pretty warm, so I was grateful to leave the crinoline at home!
I also was lucky enough to pick up the classic monster handbag in the photos from Rock Rebel at Son of Monsterpalooza.
Lastly, a quick bonus look is this cute cat pinafore from Kreepsville 666.
