We recently had a free afternoon, so we took our annual passes out for a spin and went to Disneyland.
The day was super duper hot, so I had to make a quick wardrobe change from what I had planned. I had planned on wearing my Red the Pirate dress from The Dress Shop, but I’ll have to take it out on the town, or land, later.
Instead, I wore my BB8 dress by Her Universe for Torrid.
This dress is perfect for going to parks for a day. I got tons of compliments on it, and even got hassled by Storm Troopers in Batuu.
Then we ran into some of our closest friends, and watched the Electrical Light Parade together.
It was a great day!
The dress is by Her Universe for Torrid. While it is not readily available, you can still find it online on Ebay. The cropped white tee is from Target and my trusty Chucks by Converse.
The kiddo and I recently hosted our very first (first of many, I hope) couture meet-up at The Federal in North Hollywood.
We had a great time! I was recently inspired by the Lolita tea houses all over the world where Lolitas can meet up with each other in their favorite looks and hang out, inspire each other, take fun pictures, etc.
I wanted to widen the scope of the invite to include all kinds of geekery, so we put in the invite that there were no dress-code rules; wear whatever you want. As you can see, we had some great looks sported by some awesome ladies:
I chose to wear my new Black Widow dapper look.
Let’s break it down with the Team Build Checklist. Click on the link to print your own.
The kiddo and I recently got to go back to Universal Studios Hollywood to check out the new Jurassic World section on the lower lot.
We had a fantastic time! The area was packed! Packed! So, Benji couldn’t even ride the updated ride. Even with the single-rider line (I’m too chicken to go on it), the wait was over an hour and a half! So, next time. Also, the triceratops wasn’t out and about. So, also next time. Now we have an excuse to go back, not that we really needed one.
But, we DID get to pet Tango, the baby raptor…
We also got to meet Blue and give her a command. It was awesome!
I know we looked scared at a dude in a suit, but once you are face to face with Blue, let’s just say it’s a little nerve-wracking!
For our day at the park, I wore my Alan Grant bound.
This bound was super comfy, even with the super hot day. I really love the skirt so much. Retrolicious pieces are size-inclusive and reasonably priced. Check out their website here.
Our latest outfit of the day comes from Her Universe.
Recently, Her Universe released a brand new Harry Potter collection with items for all the houses. There were also a couple of items part of their Our Universe collection as well, including lightweight house robes that are way more comfortable than the ones sold at Universal parks.
It is difficult to find pretty Hufflepuff wear, so I snagged this dress when I saw it. The yellow isn’t too mustard-y (not a word, but well it is now). The length is also fantastic!
I also love the house patches on each dress. The fabric is nice and stretchy, but still holds its shape.
When putting together pretty much any outfit, my go-to is a classic pair of Chucks.
Besides being super comfy, they come in every conceivable color and style. I even found a camo pair for my nephew once!
Chucks can be dressed way up or way down. They go with a ton of styles, vintage, bobby soxer, rockabilly, goth and modern casual styles. You can start wearing Chucks from toddler age and keep up wearing them right up to your golden years.
