While I’m still working on several SDCC updates, I thought I would visit one of my favorite go-to wardrobe pieces, the uniform dress. “What the heck is that?” you might ask. Well, let me tell you. The uniform dress is my short-hand for a dress that is an everyday cosplay dress that recreates the uniform of a character. You can pick one of these up at any nerdy women’s wear site, pretty much. Think Geek, Her Universe, We Love Fine, etc. Here are some of my favorites:
I just profiled the winter soldier dress on the left earlier this week, but I’ll repost the link to Gold Bubble to get your own. The Age of Ultron uniform dress is from Think Geek. I’m wearing an XL in Gold Bubble and a 3X in Think Geek. I’m a size 18/20 for reference. I know, big difference, but sizing can be weird.
This dress is by Elhoffer Design. She made this fabulous fabulousness from my own measurements, but her ready to wear, I wear a 3X. While not an out-and-out uniform dress, it is close enough to showcase on this blog post! It is more subtle than a straight-up uniform dress, but that makes it easier to dress up or down depending on the event you are wearing it to.
Both of these dresses are from Her Universe. I’m wearing a 3X in the Han Solo and 2X in the Iron Man.
What is so great about the uniform dress is how fun and easy it is! While the weather is super hot, it is an easy way to express your fandoms and not swelter in leggings or with tall boots. Just add a pair of colorful sneakers and you are good to go! Converse Chucks are always a good choice.
One last thing about the uniform dress, it is a great gateway to cosplay. Wear one of these to a con with a prop, and you have taken the first steps to cosplaying. I wear one in my Harry Potter cosplay actually to this day!

Coming up next, several recaps of our week at SDCC! Until then, happy shopping!
